Try to work the rag in between the crank and the door panel. 2. Move the rag in a "dental flossing" motion see-sawing back and forth. Eventually you'll hit the right spot, and the clip will pop off. on my 1997 S10 the door handle screw needed to be held with a screw drive behind it in order to get to turn. You must also align the lock mechanism where the top screw is located. However in removing the clip from the handle this procedure worked better for me:
